Hello there
Since I start usin pclinuxos I had problems with the Fn keys. Specifically, while using them for increase / decrease volume always went ok, I never manged to adjust brightness , with the Fn keys

As far as read on the internet this is still a common problem that linux has with laptops (not to mention especially with suspension and hybernation..) anyway I know that it seems to be a metter of kernel. (dedicated module(s) are required to get that working)
How may I resolve? I'd like to avoid thinkerin with kernel, since I'm a very newbie user...

Anyaway I found a couple of things tha may be useful:
toshiba linux utilities -
http://www.buzzard.me.uk/toshiba/index.htmland
FnFX - Toshiba ACPI Daemon for Linux -
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fnfx/(the latter is still a beta, though not updated since 2004

moreover the lionks there seems to be broken)
anyway both should enable the fn keys workin, for the bightness setting
I don't know, I have to ask for the in the package request settings? Or maybe, a more canonical solution, the next pclinuxos kernel version will come with a module preloaded in the new kernel shipped with the upcoming relase?
My personal opinion: it would be great if 'd exist an universal module capable of enabling the operation of such keys, for all laptops, a passepartout kinda.
Only solution I discovered so far was using the program xbacklight, but I'd like to have those keys working, like another distro..

Please, answer and infos needed.
From love with italy
