Hello gang. Been using pclos for a few months and enjoy the heck out of it.

I am looking for an application (preferably GUI) for pclos that allows for task automation. For example, <loop> focus window, pause 7 seconds, send xxx keystokes, pause 3 seconds, minimize window <end loop>. The ability to schedule tasks would be a bonus.

On Windows, I use an app called Automate by Network Automation, which works well but of course that leaves me stuck with Windows.

Hopefully I have provided enough information as to what I am looking for. Looking forward to hear suggestions.

Thanks!

Not a clue. Maybe if you just told us what end result you are trying to accomplish, instead of details of how you expect something to be done, we could offer meaningful suggestions.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

But maybe there are even better solutions when you answer the post of Old-Polack  Wink

@Archie, can you make a packager automation manager for me, then I can just run it on my pc and I don't have to spend extra time on it  Tongue

Ok I'll give Autokey a try. Thanks Archie.

Here's an example of what I would like to accomplish (avi clip on Dropbox):

Thanks again.

Half-right, it seems. AutoKey (with several UIs) is in the repos for 64 bit test installations, but I haven't been able to find a version for 32 bit -- not even in the testing section.

Dang, this is what I get for only having 2 pairs of eyes, and too many things to watch for. Sorry, folks.

Bald Brick is right. UIs for GTK and QT. It is only in the x86_64 test version repository.

When I get some time, I'll see if it builds on i686.

Sorry.... I've been covered up at work lately. I didn't check my 64 bit test install. Would have seen this if I had.

Finally found time to look for Autokey per Archie's suggestion. Searched on Synaptic for it with no results. Sorry guys for my ignorance but does that mean there isn't a 32 bit version available? Thanks again for the help.

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find my new favorite OS... PCLinuxOS + xfce4 is pretty entertaining so far. I'm liking it.

But now I've GOT to make Autokey work... I do so many automated text insertions for email at work that it has become a mandatory part of any linux I'm using at work. So please kindly supply ideas for how I can get this to work on my PCLinux install? Or is there a 64 bit version of the OS? ... somehow, I thought PCLinuxOS only was 32-bit...

Thanks,
Chris

PS - I downloaded the Phoenix64 Joble Beta1 iso as well as the LXDE 64 Mini testing iso... I think I'll do the best I can to get Autokey working in 32 bit land first.

Wow, how is it possible that Phoenix x86_64 doesn't have sshfs in it?   Embarrassed

I tried the 64bit live cd and autokey was in there... I got video to work correctly, youtube plays. Who'd think I'd need to check for sshfs? Argh. Can I compile it? Anything? Getting the network raid mounted is slightly more important than autokey...

I'll bounce back to another distro for now I guess. I'm out of town tomorrow and need to get some work done this week.  Undecided
