PCLinuxOS - Heck Yeah !
Problem Typing Apostrophes [Solved]
«

I am using PCLinuxOS KDE MiniMe 2012. Updated totally, via Synaptic.
The problem happens whether typing a post online, or any text editor.
Itś global.
When I type an apostrophe, it squeezes itself on top of the character
preceding it, unless I use the space bar immediately after typing an
Apostrophe, or quotes.
Example:
Itś a beautiful dayś walking. Peopleś rightś aren't respected always.
More: Heś , Sheś, cowś, boatś, Treeś
If I hit the space bar after typing a quotation mark, or an apostrophe, the
formatting is corrected.
It's a beautiful day's walking. People's rights' aren't respected always.
He's She's Cow's Boat's Tree's.
Not using spacebar after typing a quote, or apostrophe:
Iǘe grown used to using the space bar, but Iḿ using a lot more keystrokeś.
Thatś an example without using space bar.¨ (see the odd character which should be a quote ? )
There may be a simple fix, answer, why this is happening ?
Iḿ hoping someone may have an explanation to this annoying problem.
Thankyou for your time.
Regards
Edit Note:
I have another Computer, with pclos LXDE 2012 installed, and I can safely say this is a problem (Above) - as I don't have to use the spacebar in this unusual manner while typing on the aforementioned System..

Check to see what keyboard you have set. Is it set to US International? French? What?

With an American (US) International keyboard setting you have to use the spacebar to create " ' ` ~ and so on. It's handy to create é è ñ ü . If you never need such signs use the standard American (US) without International version, then you don't have the dead keys.

Thanks for your replies.
Looking in PCLinuxOS (PCC) I have
U.S. Keyboard International
selected.
Logitech Generic.
I'll try US Keyboard, see what happens, get back with result.

Well how about that. I'm sure I didn't select U.S. Keyboard International, whatever, problem fixed. Selected US Keyboard !
Cow's, My Keyboards', day's, ...Night's. Feels lots better.
Thankyou Neal and DeBaas
