Banshee is my preferred music organizer app, but I can't get it to open on my KDE4 desktop (the final 2011 PCLOS KDE release). However it will work fine on another desktop that has the PCLOS XFCE 2011.07 desktop. It also works fine on my laptop which is Mepis 11 (KDE4).

When I attempt to start it from a console I get this:

[Info  21:09:00.036] Running Banshee 1.8.1: [PCLinuxOS %pclinuxos_release (linux-gnu, i586) @ 2011-01-31 08:38:54 CST]
[Warn  21:09:01.749] Cannot connect to NetworkManager or Wicd - An available, working network connection will be assumed

GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.system.proxy' is not installed

aborting...

Then there's about eighty lines of stuff that I can copy and paste if really necessary, then it concludes with this:

Native stacktrace:

        banshee-1() [0x80d6f22]
        [0xffffe40c]
        [0xffffe424]
        /lib/i686/libc.so.6(gsignal+0x51) [0xb7580311]
        /lib/i686/libc.so.6(abort+0x17e) [0xb7581e3e]
        /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x4a56c) [0xb609456c]

Debug info from gdb:

=================================================================
Got a SIGABRT while executing native code. This usually indicates
a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
used by your application.
=================================================================

Aborted

Any assistance will be appreciated.

This won't really help pinpoint your problem but I can't duplicate the problem - fully updated KDE (in Virtualbox) and Banshee 1.8.1

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.
