Hello,
I need to install dotnetfx20 with winetricks in order to run a windows application in wine.According to this linkhttp://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3754&iTestingId=59916it should work.
However when I try following the advice it fails and tells me I need a later version of wine.
As I am running wine 1.2.3-2pclos2011 and the link refers to wine 1.2.2 I am assuming it must be a change in wine that is resulting in the problem.Any assistance would be most welcome.
Thanks.

Install zip and unzip packages in Synaptic. Open winetricks.

What could be easier?

Hello,
I reinstalled wine after deleting the hidden .wine folder to ensure a clean prefix.I followed your post and it worked a treat.
Thanks very much.Unfortunately I need to install dotnet3.5 which fails on the current installation of wine.

dotnet3.5 fails because I need a later version of Wine.

I want to use  a program called FLim Configuration Utility FCU.(It enables the programming/setting of MERG electronic modules)
I believe I just need to wait for a later version of Wine to be available.
Thanks.

trustytrev,

You may have tried to install dotnet3.5 from winetricks. If you did, you discovered what I did, that it's currently "unsupported". I downloaded the self-installing dotnet3.5 executable and ran it. It looked like it would be successful, but failed at the very end, after already extracting and installing over 1GB of data. After that, I uninstalled and wiped all traces of wine.

Hello,
Yes that is what I found. It will probably be fixed in a later version of Wine as dotnet has moved on from version 3.5 as well.
Thanks.

If your computer has the resources, run a real copy of Windows in VirtualBox. You will never have to reboot in order to run Windows.  Wink
