IMO, the jury is still out on that. When something goes wrong, it is not always just one thing.

Hi Taco,
Agreed. We can continue testing it. In my main machine I still use the version I have compiled by hand. I will now test Archie's i586 package in the OB Bonsai install in Virtualbox.

Folks,
To cause Neal less headaches, I would suggest this thread be focused toward just 32 bit installs (64bit speek belongs ELSEWHERE) on a standard base that is all testers using same iso - I would strongly suggest the LXDE iso, as Bonsai has a history of too many false positives by way of issues after trouble shooting on one platform/iso move on to another.
At the moment I have NO idea how Neal is keeping up with this thread or how any one sensible solution will be met.
When I am feeling better I may chirp in with some trouble shooting myself
Jase

Regarding my conflict with Spacefm and Aurora and elegant-aurora on OB - I posted the issue onto Spacefm Bugs/Requests forum - http://sourceforge.net/p/spacefm/tickets/. Ignorantguru responded with - Thanks for the info. This sounds like an issue in libexo, used in some parts of spacefm (and thunar). I was wondering if anyone else can replicate this in OB - does it also affect LXDE with one/both the OB and Thunar components?

I confirm there is a slight bug already talked about, in PCManFM when using this theme. I wanted to change it but didn't find one as nice and light. I will try to replace it with another one. I have thought of Equinox_Light which belongs to a bigger package, but it could be trimmed, or it could be even split in several packages if a packager would want to look at it. It's a nice theme.
If libexo is faulty, IgnorantGuru will tell more about it when he will have tested I suppose ? Else, Elegant Aurora has not been updated since it's creation. I had looked recently.
If you find another gtk theme (2 and 3 or 2/3 friendly) at box-look.org or gnome-look.org, or deviant art, which might be interesting please let me know ?
The problem as I remember it is related to right-click in the file manager, which does not stay still, or something like that, is that correct ?

I have my install back on its previous state. I did not install and test the last RPM but I updated and everything was good. I suspect it might have something to do with --enable-hal and some stuff that that were on my previous install.
How was I also affected? On my previous install state, I also have Razor-Qt installed which had some Openbox dependencies. I believe that there are still issues with obconf (or whatever) still being discussed on the ML.
I will wait for further instructions from y'all. In the meantime, I will delete the RPMS that were built with --enable-hal.
Peace and much respect, Archie

Taco, they stopped using HAL a long time ago, so their systems are fit to be configured the way the users (they are advanced users) want it. So they might see things differently, and Spacefm probably reacts differently too, according to what the settings in polkit are. (localauthority, and so on... ) Archie : if you prefer to not use the hal enabled package it's perfectly ok, but maybe could you keep them a little while ? I just started testing your i586 package in a Vbox machine, and I intend to try it in a real install soon. For me it looks like it works perfectly. I didn't try the version for the isos being tested at the testing list.

If they can bork my install, it is possible that it can bork others' installs. I still kept the SRPMS so I can easily rebuild again with --enable or --disable. Peace and much respect, Archie

Hi Archie, if you offer 4 versions to test, with and without, for 2 architectures... I might try them in KDE in vbox, or in usb stick with persistence... maybe vbox would be more convenient and for such tests it seems quite reliable these days. And now I have a machine with the right cpu and enough resources for that.
Best thoughts too.

Thanks for the info. This sounds like an issue in libexo, used in some parts of spacefm (and thunar). Had another think about that and checked Synaptic - libexo not installed. So I installed it and its bits and pieces, switched the theme to Aurora and rebooted. Launched Spacefm. Bugger - no change to the issue!! Oh well, that would have been too obvious .

I've thought it over, Melodie. When I was testing the deleted RPMS on Test4, it was running and it was OK and I didn't think it would be what bork my system as per my thread on the ML. I reinstalled and updated and all was well so I can only think of one other thing I did apart from updating ... testing the RPM. If you want to to test the 4 RPMS, I can run rpmbuild and repost for both 32 and 64 ... with enable-hal and standard builds. But I ain't testing it until y'all agree on what it should be built on. Let me know.

And about libexo, was is not a matter of having and using the libexo devel package to compile spacefm against it : or didn't I understand what it is really about ? Sorry to ask so many questions in one time. Regards, Mélodie

libexo is an extension library to Xfce, and on Bonsai libexo-devel pulls in a 79mb download with 221mb installed. Includes a lot of stuff including doc-books. Doesn't seem relevant to Spacefm. If you want to to test the 4 RPMS, I can run rpmbuild and repost for both 32 and 64 ... with enable-hal and standard builds. But I ain't testing it until y'all agree on what it should be built on. I have to agree with Hootiegibbon on this - stick to 32 bit for the time being. At least it will work on 64 bit. Probably stay with "--enable-hal" as mount/unmount won't work otherwise. As to platform - shouldn't make a difference. Some of the lighter, more stripped down versions may need tweaking, but it either works on all or it doesn't have legs. And the good thing about versions like Bonsai is they let you know real quick what is missing .

Hi, Having this bunch of packages in a system dedicated to build packages does not imply to have them in a system dedicated to current use. There are 2 sorts of requires : the required libs to go along with a package, and the ones required at build time. I have to agree with Hootiegibbon on this - stick to 32 bit for the time being. At least it will work on 64 bit. Probably stay with "--enable-hal" as mount/unmount won't work otherwise. As to platform - shouldn't make a difference. And the good thing about versions like Bonsai is they let you know real quick what is missing . I don't disagree, neither do I agree. I just told Archie that if he does, I am interested to test. I happen to need something such as Spacefm to check something else, in a Openbox test version I am working on. So I could in fact test both.
