Not being a tablet/netbook/notebook/smart phone kinda guy, Other than it's reported to be running open source software, am I underwhelmed for a reason? Or do I just not "get it".
(Shut up, Mr. Burton weirdwolf! You were not brought upon this world to get it!
Now there's a movie quote for ya! Grin Grin)

First off, tablet DOES NOT EQUAL netbook  DOES NOT EQUAL notebook.  All are distinctively different, in both capabilities and purpose.   But that's not to say the capabilities of the the tablet and the netbook aren't both creeping into notebook territory, and maybe someday soon there will be little to distinguish them.

However, this does appear to be the first non-Android Linux tablet, and a step toward a full KDE tablet.

I won't buy a tablet before I can't run Linux on it. Android's much too mainstream for me  Grin Grin Grin

This does look good, let's wait until we can really see it in action. Obviously it seems to lack a photo/video camera, which I'ld like for a personal device. Well, I got kids, so no reason NOT to buy one  Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy

Hey, weirdwolf. Don't know if you realize it or not, but Aaron Seigo has been a KDE developer since version 2. I'm not much on tablets, either, or even notebooks, for that matter. But this project he's working on is aiming for a 100% complete open stack. I think it's an admirable goal, even if I wouldn't buy the hardware.

Yeah............. Wasn't implying they were the same, just I have no need or use for them at this point.

Hey djohnston, +1 on the "goal".(I did notice that Wink) Would think they'd want more (double that) memory if they want anything close to a full KDE to run reasonably. Was just underwhelmed by the 7" tablet I guess, at around 315.00usd I'd think a netbook would be more useful and better deal. (seen one at Wallymart for 249.00)

They've gone up - I got one at Wallyworld last summer for $199.

But, it's still a pain to drag around, find a place to put it, and battery life isn't all that great, so you need a wall plug.  Not to mention the teeny keyboard.  A tablet is a good replacement for a netbook, but not much else.

My daughter has a Nook Tablet (7 inch, Android) and she absolutely loves it.  And you can get Dropbox for Android, too, so it's simple to have the current project with you.

Well at least you can close your netbook up to help protect your screen.
I could almost see one of those e-reader things, just don't read like I used too though.
so I guess if it makes you (or her) happy, it can't be that bad.
