Happy Birthday Texstar!!!

PCLinuxOS KDE and KDE-MiniME 2012.02 are now available for download. These are 32bit quarterly update isos which can also be installed on 64 bit computers.

Release Date: 02-02-2012
KDE Full Version (pclinuxos-kde-2012.02.iso)
Size: 690 MB
Md5Sum: a226a2efb68f0cef4ae6dfe137f479ca
Produced by: Texstar and Pinoc
User Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Release date: 02-02-2012
KDE Mini Version (pclinuxos-kde-minime-2012.02.iso)
Size: 439MB
Produced by: Texstar and Pinoc
md5sum: 6bafc36586c7a840409f90b4a7db0ca8
User Level: Advanced

additional info, features, requirements, and download locations are available on the  official PCLinuxOS KDE download page.

with respect to the previous KDE editions these isos have the following additions:

KDE MiniME 2012.02:
==============
1. mediacheck: this boot option in the live-session permits to verify that you burnt your iso-image successfully
2. live-session user/password information reminder: click this desktop launcher to redisplay the user/password information for the live-session
3. apt-sources-list: this package is installed so you will always have the latest repo-mirror information available for your Synaptic package manager
4. nvidia-96xx: is now pre-installed to support older Nvidia graphic cards out of the box.
5. Synaptic will now also show package descriptions and the download size for any package

KDE 2012.02:
==========
all the additions from MiniME above plus
6. memtest: available in the live-session and the installed system after second reboot. This tool permits to check your computer memory if you suspect to have some issues with your RAM.
7. update reminder: upon the first login to a newly created user-account you will see information and the PCLOS Wiki-page describing how to properly update your system. This webpage is also displayed if you do not have an Internet connection, so no excuse to not know how to update your system, you were informed, ok? Updating your system is important and if you follow these steps properly you will be rewarded with the latest Firefox 10 update  Wink
8. PCLinuxOS Dokumentation Portal: new tool available from PCmenu -> Documentation or PCmenu -> Internet providing quick access to some important PCLinuxOS websites (for example how to properly update your system  Tongue), interesting Linux online books, the Linux man-pages,  Linux - Windows application comparison list, and more.

Please note: You do not necessarily need to download and install this release if you have been keeping up with your updates on a 2011.09 KDE 4 install. This is mainly for those new to PCLinuxOS KDE so they don't have so many downloads to perform to get updated to current status.

that's it, have fun!

Nice idea having the initial screen notifying users on using Synaptic for updating/installing and the subsequent web page opening in Konqueror giving a detailed "how-to" on it.

Impressed with that.

Congrats on the new release!
One question: How do I get the new PCLinuxOS Dokumentation Portal on an up-to-date 2011.09 system?  I don't see it under PCmenu -> Documentation or PCmenu -> Internet

Thanks!

It won't appear anywhere, unless you install it.

Which seems to be in contradiction to the last line in pinoc's initial post...

So what package do I need to install?

Thanks!
