I'm unable to log in to my gmail account with checkgmail. My password isn't recognized even though I've copied and pasted it into the box. I've not used it in a couple of days but it was working over the weekend. Has anyone else encountered this problem lately? Gmail through Firefox works just fine so I know that gmail is up.

OK, tried it too..... => just installed checkgmail.... and can't connect The package was generated at 28th September 2011, and never changed since; so I think Google changed something, and as result checkgmail is broken.... => this is broken software... we can't solve this without the developer solving this - maybe you can file a bug report to them?

Thanks. Not sure how to report this to Google but I'll see if I can find a way.

I reported it on the gmail forum but all I got was this canned response: I'm having trouble logging in with my username and password
If you're repeatedly prompted for your username and password, or if you're getting an 'invalid credentials' or 'web login required' error, make sure your password is correct. Keep in mind that password are case-sensitive.
If you’re sure your password is correct, sign in to your account from the web version of Gmail instead at http://mail.google.com
In most cases signing in from the web should resolve the issue, but you may also want to try these troubleshooting tips:
Make sure your mail client isn't set to check for new mail too often. If your mail client checks for new messages more than once every 10 minutes, your client might repeatedly request your username and password. Try clearing the CAPTCHA. If you're a Google Apps user, visit https://www.google.com/a/yourdomain.com/UnlockCaptcha in order to clear the CAPTCHA. Be sure to replace 'yourdomain.com' with your actual domain1 name. If you're a transitioned Google Apps account user, you should use this link to clear your CAPTCHA. Try changing your password according to our tips on creating a strong password.

I could be wrong, but if you are able to get into gmail other ways then maybe gmail sees checkgmail as a spammer or Trojan and blocks it.

I don't know what changed. I've used this for years without a problem until this week. Whatever caused it I wish it would go away or someone could id the problem and fix it.

I even changed my password and tried to use CAPTCHA and couldn't log in. Oh well I guess I'll just wait and hope that the problem goes away or get used to living without checkgmail. Thanks for the replies.

Can you login to GMail from its web interface?

There's no real problem at Google; the problem is in checkgmail, which has to be updated I think (with new login procedure/authentication in the code) by the developer (or is that Google?) @djonston ( Can you login to GMail from its web interface?): look at first message: Gmail through Firefox works just fine so I know that gmail is up.
