In theory, theory=practice, in practice ???

« on: January 31, 2012, 09:14:45 PM »

All my PCL software is working quite well so I decided
to adjust some GTK themes I had.   Well, some I can
do, others, no can do, at least not without undue experimentation.

Up here in Illinois I can find HTML and CSS books, but
not a single GTK  book in  the bookstore(s).   You know
how Windows and Windows for Workgroups is up here then.

Question :    What is a very good GTK book for doing Linux
system desktop themes ?    Hopefully, just a hundred pages
or so.

I've changed some colors, borders, and things, but some items
I want to change, I need some more technical info so I can do so.
Some themes don't work with every single program, especially
the darker colored themes.

I'll order the book from someplace.

THX.

Thanks for the response.   Going to try the large public library
next and get a ISBN number of a GTK theme book hopefully.   The
online guides and tutorials are good but I see some items that
aren't in them.   The main GTKWindow widget seems alot like the
"universal selector" in CSS style sheets.   Following that concept
should be logical enough to start, for comparison.
