I use Pclinuxos KDE on my desktop.
At present, working away from home, so using my Dell Latitude D600 via wifi connection.
With KDE I cannot get my wifi recognised, but with the LXDE vesion it is no problem.
Now I prefer the KDE (Which in my mind is the most user friendly linux version ever, end of) and would love to install this to the laptop.
Can someone tell me how I can get my wifi card recognised so I can do this.
Computer specs.
Intel Pentium (m) 1.6ghz
1.5gig ram
Dell true mobile 1400 Wlan card (Which works perfect under LXDE but not found under KDE)

Acer Aspire SA60, Intel Celeron 2.8ghz, 2gig ram, 1x80gig (xp), 1x80gig (PCLinuxOs) & 1x100gig (Storage) hard drives,Nvidia FX5700 graphic card, 22" lcd monitor @ 1680x1050res. Running dual boot Win XP and PCLinuxOS KDE on separate drives.
Even for this rig, performance is good and all 3d works

Check through PCC - Hardware what module the wifi is using on LXDE and do the same for KDE.

That might give some indication ....

Are the LXDE and KDE installations using the same kernel? If not, maybe you need a kernel upgrade on the KDE. As Just18 says, check the driver set up in PCC ->Hardware. Finally, if all else fails (and if your wireless connection where you are can cope with the download size), you could install task-kde into your LXDE version which would enable you to use KDE there!

That last one shouldn't really be necessary, as there's no real difference between desktop versions other than the desktops.

In KDE, enable KDE Wallet in system settings. Then try wireless. No need to try other kernels...if it works in LXDE it will work in KDE.
