After every track Amarok stops playing.  I googled and found other users having this problem:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/amarok-doesnt-advance-to-next-track-on-playlist-automatically-870843/

http://linux.bigresource.com/Fedora-Amarok-stops-after-each-track-on-magnatune--i0Jbq5Uiw.html#YCHDHRrKf

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1187942

As suggested in one of the above links, I deleted the contents of ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok

Unfortunately that did not solve the problem.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

I have no solution.

Start program however from a konsole and then copy the output if any to topic this may reveal some juicy facts.  Smiley

Lots of errors!

My suggestion would be to use Clementine.   It's in the repos.  I've never liked Amorok.

That looks a bit too complicated for me   Cheesy Because of the many X11 errorrs that is probably the first thing to look at. As to why that is beyond me.

So you don't scare too many people from looking I would edit/modify your post to only show about 40 top lines.

You have not given any description of what sort of computer system you are using, this is an effective way too to make sure people just skip over your question   Grin  There was a mention of lack of resources, perhaps you are using a laptop being a bit short of processing power plus display/videocard not not got identified properly --- all guesswork.

Thanks. I edited my previous post and deleted several lines.

Sorry I forgot to mention anything about the hardware.  The machine has an Intel i5 750, a Nvidia GTX 470 video card and 16 GB of RAM.  Its got pretty good specs, and I've had no resource  issues with video or games, etc.

Is the playlist on a Windows partition? If so, is it FAT32 or NTFS filesystem?

Yes.  The music files are all on a separate FAT32 formatted disk.

I thought so from the errors. I don't have a Windows or Amarok installation, so I'll have to ask. Was Amarok previously working correctly with the playlists on that partition?

I copied a couple of songs to a my "home" (linux) directory and rescanned those so they would be my new Amarok "collection". Then I created a playlist with the two songs and they played it to see if Amarok would stop after the first track.  It did.

So apparently the problem isn't where the music files are located.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I'll probably just go ahead and use Clementine instead of Amarok.

Got it, fixed, just been happening to me.

Install VLC (which you probably already have)

Install phonon-vlc

Amarok > Settings >Configure Amarok > Playback > Configure Phonon > Backend > Prefer VLC

Thats it, fixed.
