Hi all, I'm Andy. I have found PCLOS and am very pleased! First Unix experience was around 1988-1989 as a computer operator in the Oil Seismic Processing industry in Houston, Tx with one of the worlds first Unix based floating point processor systems / FPS, in which that company utilized it to do 3D Migration Stack Processing to find Oil/Gas. It was all command line. Was limited on it then and I'm still pretty limited on the command line today as well. I'm more of a hardware guy than a programmer type, but definately like t-shooting hardware problems.
Later through a friend came to find Red Hat Linux and My first multi-boot install around 1999 or so. Multi-boot has been my way since then. Linux of one form or another installed over the years. Have tried all of the PCLOS versions so far and am still set in my ways with KDE.
Have a new rig in place since mid December, replacing the old single core XP3200. The new rig is very noticeably faster in all aspects. It was time for the upgrade.
New rig is: Asus M5a97 FX-8150 3.6GHz Bulldozer Budget H20 processor cooler 8gb 1600 ram Zotac nvidia GTX 560 2Gb W/D 500Gb, W/D 3.0Tb 2x W/D 1Tb drives coming from the old rig to the new one soon.
Good to be here and bye for now, Andy

Well, I was born in Oklahoma, but I was too young to remember. My dad moved us around a bit, and we landed in Texas. I spent most of my life there, and now I live in Oklahoma again. Does that count?
Wait. Maybe you meant you're from Texas. Okay. Hello there.
Welcome to the forum!

Thanks djohnston. Maybe I should re-word the topic? That was funny though. Andy

Naw, no need to reword. I have my moments. You should check out the Sandbox. Matter of fact, check out all sections of the forum. Being a hardware guy, you'll probably want to check out the Hardware Discussion section. There are three hardware sections in the Help group, too. Enjoy!

@ djohnston,, Yes on the hardware discussion. Found the profile section. Nice that you can have a different logon name than what shows in the forum! Been lurking around here for about 6 months and really see the humanity in the forum here. I'm on one other auto/hotrod forum board where it's based on a very humane and no-nonsense approach. By far this forum/distro and the auto site I frequent, are both second to none. Real folks here from what I've seen so far.
@ Archie,, Thank you Sir!
