I originally installed LXDE 201109 and have updated regularly.
Help About in PCLinuxOS Control Center shows PCLinuxOS 2012.

I used to be able to select files in PCManFM, right click, choose Compress and I would get a dialogue to create an archive file.
Now when I right click and choose Compress - nothing happens.

Does anyone know what I may have done to disable this?

Check that you have installed ---
tar
gzip
bzip2
xz
lzip
zip

If not, install; if so, reinstall.

Hi Neal,
lzip was not installed.  I installed it and there was no difference.
I then reinstalled all 6 packages and still no difference.

Try a reinstall of PCManFM, libfm, libfm-gtk and File Roller. Reboot after.

I reinstalled the 4 packages and shut down - waited a minute and restarted.  It is still not working.

Open PCManFM. Select Edit>Preferences. Click the Advanced tab. What do you have selected for Archiver integration?

I had xarchiver listed - which I see I don't have installed.
I must have inadvertently switched this when I was looking at the various tabs.  I certainly don't remember doing it - but since it used to work and now that I have reset it to file-roller it is working again, I guess I did during one of my brain dead moments.

Thank you djohnston and Neal for providing quick replies.

File-roller's a better choice, IMHO. Glad you got it working.
