You say you have just installed PCLinuxOS. What iso did you install from? Can you post a link?

This isn't going to help.

I had room for a VBox install and had PCLinuxos-KDE-2011.6, so, I installed and updated. The only thing I added was task-scanning.

I ran the installation script from my normal user account.

The installation dialog opened, then I got a prompt for the root password. The installation proceeded and when complete I could print and scan.

I don't know what to do next.

I'll add that when I got the printer, I was running 2007-KDE and the driver installed there as well, but I didn't test the scanner side.

With regards to the installation. I just followed the links on the PCLinuxOs website. This was Get PCLinuxOS, KDE Desktop, this allows me to download a version which is labelled as pclinuxos-kde-2011-09.iso.

As an addition, I have got an HP Deskjet 930C which has installed and is working with no problem.

Finally, fixed! I logged out of my user all together. Then I logged back in as root. Then I ran the script. It ran ok. Don't ask me why running root under my user didn't work but both the printer and the scanner are now recognised. Thanks for your help!

Cheers for now
