http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_AgreementOpponents have argued that the treaty will restrict fundamental civil rights, including the freedom of expression and communication privacy.[16] They also criticize ACTA's removal of "legal safeguards that protect Internet Service Providers from liability for the actions of their subscribers" in effect giving ISPs no option but to comply with privacy invasions.[17] According to an analysis by the Free Software Foundation (FSF), ACTA would require that existing ISPs no longer host free software that can access copyrighted media, and DRM protected media would not be legally playable with free software.[18] JohnW

Yes, indeed it is scary! Especially this part "and would create its own governing body outside existing international institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) or the United Nations"
Why the heck does it need to create its own governing body? ACTA has to be prevented at all costs. If we give them an inch they will take a mile!
'Official negotiations began in June 2008, with Australia, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and Singapore joining the talks. The negotiations were classified as secret in the US on the grounds of "damage to the national security".'
The only damage to national security is OUR OWN GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!! They would screw up a wet dream if they had the chance. These are a fine example of LAWS/bills which should have to have a public vote, instead of being passed or conjured up in secret.
Wouldn't you of guessed some of those that had a hand it this BS such as IIPA, RIAA, PRMA, MPAA or MPA. Who's best intrest is ACTA really in? Certainly is not yours or mine.

YouCanToo, The U.S. has already signed the treaty, from what I've read.

The final text was released on 15 November 2010,[19] with English, French, and Spanish published on April 15, 2011.[20] A signing ceremony was held on 1 October 2011 in Tokyo, with the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea signing the treaty. The European Union, Mexico, and Switzerland attended but did not sign, professing support and saying they will do so in the future.[21][22] Article 39 of ACTA states countries can sign the treaty until 31 March 2013. It was my understanding that this was proposed by the US in the first place, along with its 'willings' (hangers-on). The objections to it seem to have diminished somewhat since the initial signing ...... or at least the public outcry is no longer being reported http://inewp.com/?p=10655

The first I ever heard of it was when JohnW_57 posted it to his Google+ page. Guess I should watch the new more, aye?

What can we do? Nothing, we're "sold" already. We have praised and feed these super greeds to long and bought ALL they throw at us. In the future we do even more of that simply because .... "choice" will be gone (Hehehe, a super rich man's dream comes through)
