What if it is a Samsquamch?

WWW
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:24:39 AM »

Using Synaptic, I installed an app called "Bonnie++", a hard drive benchmarking program.

After installation it's "Properties" in Synaptic state that it is located in "System/Kernel and hardware".

My KDE and Lancelot Launchers do not have a System menu item displayed, but "System" is shown when properties is selected for either application launcher. But there is nothing listed under this System menu item.

How can I get "System" and it's apps on the menus?  Huh

Thanks

Before trying to add it "manually"  try right clicking the KDE Kicker Menu and switch to Classic Menu Style and see if the System section is there.

It could possibly be a command line tool

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.

This is a software category, not a menu entry.  Wink

Open a terminal and type:

man bonnie++
alternatively, open konqueror and type in "man:bonnie++"

I have it in the "Classic View" now, and there isn't a "System" menu item. I also looked at all of the menu items and can't find it anywhere.

It's frustrating to have Synaptic install an app and then not add it to the menu. If it is a command line tool, it would be nice to have that stated in the package details so that a user could decide if they wanted to go that route.

I suspect that there is a way to add this section and it's apps to the menu, I just haven't found the solution yet. (I haven't found the Bonnie++ executable either)
