Latest version. tried twice. Same result.

Boot up & choose install. Takes nearly five minutes to get to the keyboard layout page.Next the page about the partitions.

Click next. The computer goes into a restart & just before ejecting the CD I see a screen that says, 'No volume Groups Found.'

Three or four days ago I installed pclinuxos kde desktop without a hitch.

How much RAM does the PC have and what speed did you burn the DVD at?

Try choosing the live session instead of install from the boot menu. See if the desktop comes up okay. I believe there's a desktop installation icon. Even if there isn't one, there's still a way to install the OS from a live session.

In the live session the yellow text box tells you to get further information on desktop 6, so go to desktop 6. On that desktop it tells you that in order to install the live session you should click on the icon "Install PCLinuxOS" and that desktop launcher is right next to the text box. What is the problem???
Moreover, and before doing the installation, you can click on the desktop icon (again next to the text box) "Installation Help" providing useful details for the installation, like partitioning requirements, etc. In addition, more info is available in the file FullMonty_readme.txt (in the HOME-folder), providing links to here and here.
This info should is provided for a purpose, so please read it.
hope this helps,
-p.

Like I said I can't see it anywhere. I can see that it says to click the icon but I can't see it anywhere on 6. It loaded to desktop 6 by default. Will look again.

Open a terminal. Enter draklive-install. A requester window will pop up asking for root's password. The password is root. An installation GUI will begin running. Follow the prompts.

I burnt the iso to another disc. This time I had the right half of the screens icons & tool bars showing up. First time I only had things to the left. Wondered why there was no clock.

Anyway this time I removed unwanted packages, clicked install, got the wizard, clicked next & the wizard closes. That's it. Try again, same thing.

It's weird because the desktop KDE version installed OK.

Uninstall unwanted packages after installation.

Got some strange happenings going on. First couple of tries I got to the wallpaper screen & the resolution could not be set. Probably why all the icons & other things did show up.

Then it picked up the resolution, 1680x1050, but would not install.

Tried again, did not pick up screen resolution. When I selected it the screen went black with only the cursor showing. While it was booting up though I did notice it saying, 'auto force raid.'

I do have identical drives but not in an array. Could that have something to do with it?

Oh & the instructions say to remove packages then install. Will try the other way round especially as I have the draklive-install to try. Thanks

Sorry. Haven't installed Full Monty, so haven't seen the instructions. My advice, eject the DVD and power off the machine. Make some coffee, walk around the block or call a friend. Come back to the cold PC after a few minutes. Boot up the PC and immediately go into the BIOS settings. You seem to be getting erratic hardware behavior. Make sure all BIOS settings are correct. Especially, check the system's date and time for accuracy.

After that, boot the DVD and try again.

Seems to be the not picking up the screen resolution as to why all the icons don't show up. Did it again. I tried draklive-install. Same thing. Click next on the wizard & it closes.

Will try your suggestion. Got to make pizza for the family soon anyway.  Grin
