And how do you make a Repo Speed Test?? Because i looked everywhere and didnt find how to.

Thanks

Hello patomas.

Go to PC>Software Centre>Update Package Sources List.

I dont have that app

The "Update package source list" and the "Repo Speed test" are two different programs which were used for two different purposes. Both have been removed...

I had PASS on the 2010 installation and (my bad) did not ask for an update when I installed KDE 2011.9.  Which brings me to the purpose of this post

1)  How do I get new PASS access?

2)  I have noticed the repositories are not being updated, or at least not much.  Is it because of the time of year or what?

Deb,
You didn't read all of this thread before posting, did you? PASS is out of service at this time. Switch to one of our public mirrors of the repository. There are updates available.

I did read all the post and saw were PASS was down, but I got the idea this was a temporary issue and not a permanent condition.   What I was really asking is "If and when the PASS server comes back up, where does one get the URL?"  If PASS has gone away permanently, "bummer."

But the other item about the lack of updates still stands.  Is it just the time of year that is causing the lack of updates, which are usually constant, or what?

Absolutely no one has said it is permanent.

So why didn't you ask the question you meant to ask, instead of the question you asked? Huh Huh Huh
You're getting ahead of things. We haven't got PASS back in service yet, and you want us to give you a URL? Sorry. Not yet available.

As I said previously, there are updates available. If those updates aren't for your particular installed apps, then wait till some come. I won't try to create updates out of thin air. Undecided An update has to become available before it can be packaged and sent to the repo.
Patience would be appreciated.

Neal, I know you are swamped. I was just asking both questions for information.

Thanks and have a great one.

Deb, you may still have the email enclosing the sources.list file which contains your pass information.

Yes, I either have the e-mail or the "Sources.lst" file with that URL on it.  It is under the 2010.12 installation and a simple matter to copy it over to /etc/apt/

If I am to use that link, I would assume I just change the 2010 to 2011 on the Distribution line.  Correct?

Thanks

Incorrect! First, PASS has no 2011 directory, only 2010. The actual physical year has absolutely nothing to do with the name/designation of the directory, other than it was named for the year in which it was created.

There is only one 2011 directory on any of our repos --- it is for the 64bit packages. Enabling and using it will cause breakage to your system.

I thought pass was just a tool for us users to make a quick and easy contribution to PCLinuxOS and the people who go to the expense to make it possible. I have never made it a point to use that repository and my system is always up to date.
If I used a commercial operating system and purchased the software the providers tell me I need, it may cost plus or minus $200.00 a year. That is just to keep up to date every few years. I, too, am watching for a means to contribute be it a special account or something else. More important to me, it gives me an opportunity to feel in some manner I am part of all this.
