PCLinuxOS - Heck Yeah !

« on: January 05, 2012, 05:07:02 PM »

I've always had trouble posting to off site Image Hosting sites here, at PCLinuxOS.com, and getting them to show, so when my signature is set, I forget it !

But 12 hours ago defied logic. I'm sure we are all aware that images offsite have a 'mind of there own', unfortunate really, ... as a picture tells so much.

1.) I noted the great work being done over at PCLinuxOS Knowledge base, or Wiki: http://pclinuxoshelp.com/index.php/Main_Page
... and wanted to say as much by incorporating the Address in my Signature.

2.) When trying to squeeze BBCode (Bulletin Board Code) into a Sig it's a bit 'tight', for myself personally. I've been spoilt by my Forum Boss, we can do anything, within reason with pictures, image hosting, etc. She is however a SMF for free MOD, and does a few experiments.

3.) Once I design my code and checked it all worked I found every picture in my Sig was being denied by ImageShack. Wouldn't mention this unless I wasted about three hours trying...

*The bar sig things, "I use PCLinuxOS", ...every time I posted the darn thing, a '403' that I infringed someone's copyright, or someone had objected come up.
Who did that ? Hell I got pissed off !
PM me if you have a problem, that's why I mention "Mole" in the Post heading as someone was playing not so funny bugger's with me, and I'm not impressed.

No logical reason for this blocking of pictures either from within the Forum, or a "Mole"!!!

4.) I use PhotoBucket for my Avatar.
Only works for me as that, the direct Avatar Link.  Huh
Posting a pic from Photobucket on the board is a waste of time. In my case doesn't work, accept as an Avatar host.  Huh

There's a billion image hosting sites, so I used an obscure one to post what is there now.

Imageshack was getting complaints about me posting a darn little, "I use pclinuxos" bar signature picture, like I was being watched. Spooky stuff, sort it out, please.
We SHOULD be able to post images, it is important.

Not so much as in a signature, but definitively in a post !!

5) Any explanation that someone of Authority was blocking 4 attempts at using pclos sig's please just P.M. me. Or explain here.

6.) Suggestions to which off site Image Hosting sites work, day in, day out would be greatly appreciated.

What a waste of my time !!  Undecided  And your's !

I apologise in advance if my suggestion's of inside Forum manipulation is unfounded, as I would of course not at all like to consider it; so a "Mole" is gonna do such a thing ?
Plus, this is not not the first time this has happened to me Mod's.
I've had pics, reposted from my sig, from ImageShack, with little alterations made to them.  Huh Must be their end causing the problem, dunno.
N.B. - 'Report a Mole to a Mod post.'

First, read this:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,1992.0.html

Second, we have no control over imageshack or any other image hosting site, so ranting at us isn't going to do you any good. Blaming us for what they do is like having a vegetarian dinner and blaming the beef. Roll Eyes

If a site doesn't work for you, try another.

Aha, thanks ! Heck didn't really think that those sites were so bad, seems like they are though.
Can hide malicious code in images certainly.
Thankyou for the alternate image sites, I'm dumping Photobucket and Imageshack.
Was a creepy thing going on, for sure.

Redeemed myself by replacing my Son's top notch state of the Art gaming Computer with a 5 year old P.C. with barely any Video memory, and 770ish MB's of Ram, running PCLinuxOS 'MiniMe'. The look on his face once he got online was priceless. Was very pleasing.

Windows 7, 4 GB's RAM, NVIDIA card, and a dead power supply aint no match for an old box with a working power supply, and PCLinuxOS MiniMe 2011.09  Wink

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.
