I did a fresh install of PCLOS on a new solid state drive..   I have my system running almost the way I had it on the old drive, except for one thing... 

I get the graphic progress bar appearing over top of the boot messages.  I know I can turn it off by hitting ESC, but I  prefer not having to do anything in order to  see all the processes loading and reporting if they are all OK or if there are any errors.

I managed to turn this off once a long time ago, but can't remember how.  I haven't had much luck looking through all the boot settings....  Below is an image of what the screen looks like:

Edit /boot/grub/menu.list to change splash=silent to splash=verbose.

You might also wish to delete the "quiet" boot option from the same line
