So I'm trying to load Linux on my sister-in-law's laptop but running into a problem. Seems like only select few liveCD's are detected. For instance it reads Linux Mint LiveCD but not PCLOS or ZorinOS among others. The PCLOS and Zorin OS cd's work just fine on my desktop though so unsure as to what's going on? When inserted into the laptop the OS states they are blank and when trying to boot from them it just ignored them and boots the HDD OS. Ideas?

Have you burned the non-working ones at the slowest possible speed? If not, I'd give that a try; it has worked for me in similar situations.

So figured out the problem (sort of). It refused to read any of my CD's or DvD's I had so I decided to try burning it on a generic POS DvD-R I had left over from my college days and it read that just fine. Seems it is picky about what brand of CD/DvD I try to boot in it. Ah well thanks for the responses anyway!
