Network scanning with xsane and Samsung 3170

I just wanted to share this. I own a Samsung 3170mfp with wireless function.
I use the Samsung driver to access the print functions which works fine but could not get the scanner to work until today.
My problem was getting Xsane to see the scanner since it is connected by an ad-hoc connection.
I only had to edit one line in the Root/etc/sane.d folder xerox mfp config
#Samsung CLX-3170fn & CLX-3175FW
#usb 0x04e8 0x342a
tcp 192.168.1.5
I commented out the original usb line and added the tcp line and that was all
I can now scan at 300dpi through the wireless connection without having to reboot into windows

Thanks
An odd thing happened when i set this up on my daughters computer. Hers is much closer to the printer and gets a better wireless signal. She is able to scan at twice the speed and at 600dpi instead of 300. I think that it is probably due to the fact that I am at about the farthest point in the house from the printer and it does not have a very strong wireless signal.
