Works great (and fast) on a machine that had become so slow to boot with XP I'd thought it was about finished.

You have entered the Linux-World.  PCLinuxOS in particular.

Searching for the best Linux-OS STOPS here.

I'm serious.  I've tried a good number of Linux OS's.  This is the one I keep coming back to.

It is one is the best in many ways, that you will discover....
