thank you.  i have yet to activate the new look, but i expect it to be imposed and to be told that it 'enhances your online experience', so it's nice to have an option to get rid of it if i don't like it.

I guess it will appeal to some but many won't like it. I don't particularly like it.

No, it doesn't. My Gmail (already using "Compact") looks NOTHING like my old, trusted, Gmail that was FAR more friendly with the screen real estate.

Sorry, but not even close.

Well, sure it doesn't look exactly like the good 'ole Gmail we're all used to.

The compact view cleans it up a lot though.  That's what I was getting at.

Change is GOOD.  Well, sometimes.   Tongue

I tried the new look and its not for me - NO WAY, NO HOW !
And that's why I established an email account at gmx.com
which I will switch to full time, when when they force the new
look on me.

I like the new look. I didn't at first but then after a few days I started liking it.

With all due respect to those who may have differing opinions, the new Gmail look, which goes across all of the other online Google services, looks like a screen I would use on a tablet.

If I wanted a tablet look, I'd use a tablet. Otherwise, I don't quite get the whole idea of folks wanting to make my PC look like a tablet. Leave my PC alone, and let me have a PC interface on my PC. It's my PC that I use day in and day out to be productive, and the blocky tablet interface that looks more like it came from one of my old Commodore 64 screens has no place on my modern PC running a modern OS.

The new layout in Gmail and YouTube may not be the best thing that happened but I have much bigger things in life to b*tch about so I just carry on with the same tired old crap day in day out.

YouCanToo is right. It is a good alternative. The new pclosmail works great. Smooth and sleek and everything works. Try it.
