Hi,
I'm having trouble setting up the desktop background as a slideshow.   I'm running the latest barebones e17 iso ( I think I have to thank  Linuxera for that) which was a seamless fast install.
So far I've loaded the slideshow gadget and added one to the desktop,  set up a directory with some jpgs in it, logged in and out and rebooted,  but no slideshow.  I also removed the gadget and then added it again as suggested in a previous post. Still just the original theme background.
I also installed chbg and got a slideshow running in a window but when I change the settings to a desktop and run it nothing happens.  My guess is there is a file somewhere which controls the desktop background and I need to alter the file.  One post mentioned a pcmanfm desktop setting but I don't have that tab in pcmanfm.   Any ideas?

Did you put your jpg's in the default hidden folder? /root/.e/e/backgrounds you shouldn't need to logout or reboot for it to start working.
Update: just tried it on my install, unfortunately it doesn't work for me either Sad wondering if the pkg needs rebuilding or if missing a dependency.
LOL update again: if I put a .edj theme in the folder it works Smiley

Thanks OnlyHuman for replying.   I also discovered last night, I could get the slideshow going with .edj files in  ~/.e/e/backgrounds  .   You have confirmed that .jpgs don't work ( nor does png and gif ) and it's not just my setup, so I'll have to batch convert my 2000 odd jpegs to edj files or investigate modifying a theme so it will display a folder full of jpgs.  I suspect someone must have found a solution.  I'll keep looking.

Hi,

I don't know if you knew but e17 creates a .edj file within the right directory if you change your wallpaper manually with the wallpaper module. But it's alot of clicking for 100 pictures.

Is there somewhere I can change the slideshow time to more than 300 sec, this is quite fast for me. I prefer 45 minutes.

thanks,
Your right it would be a bit tedious to change jpgs to edjs one at a time.  On the timer, you could disable the timer and double click the slideshow icon every time you got bored with the current desktop.   Also I haven't looked at it yet but there's an Edje file editor,  you may be able to open the slideshow file and change the cycle delay.

Well a bit of a bodge but if you had plenty of space, to get a longer time maybe you could duplicate the wallpapers or edj files so if set for 300 seconds and you had for example 3 of each it may then appear to change every 900 seconds Cheesy

Hi,

I guess those are just the images for the module, I opened them with editje and within I found no info for settings or other stuff only just the image I see when I add the gadget to my desktop :\

I'm new with editing stuff within e17 and I'm reading this and that rightnow, but I have the feeling we're on the wrong trail here.

Has anybody information about how to configure E17 modules and gadgets after they has been compiled?

Thanks for aswers in advance

Hi, I spoke to the slideshow developer, and asked if he could increase the time up to 40mins, he said sure, and has committed the updated slideshow module to enlightenment svn if you wish to download it Smiley

Hi OnlyHuman - thanks for solving  the cycle delay,  would it also be possible to ask the developer to modify the slideshow so it read jpg files or am I asking for the impossible?

Well I tried updated version, unfortunately the module never worked for me with pclinuxos, maybe someone else may have some luck, probably best wait till new e17 and modules pkgs are updated.
Jpegs normally work with slideshow but seems another problem that should be resolved when new e17 pkgs and modules are built.

Now I cant wait to get the new updates. I guess there will be within a pclos update soon.
Do you know any good manpages for e17. I'd like to understand more of itand not just scratching on the top of it.
