PCLinuxOS has made my dream system a reality! I started running PCLinuxOS full time around the end of May because I wanted a rolling release and graphics drivers that actually worked, it turned out to be the best move I have ever made. Having a system that was so solid and drivers that worked so well got me interested in upgrading my hardware. I bought a really sweet looking Antec gaming case with all the bells and whistles, a good Logitech mouse, a good heat-sink with copper heat tubes and my dad gave me a high end ATI graphics card. This was the first time in years that I had a system so solid that upgrading my hardware seemed like a worthwhile thing to do.

I loaded PCLinuxOS KDE 64 bit test 3 when it hit the servers and it completely changed my view on 64 bit systems! Now I had pretty decent hardware, a solid nice looking and running operating system and the monthly music thread got me interested in collecting music again. My wife surprised me with a new set of Logitech 75 watt surround sound speakers! I was playing some music videos I downloaded this morning and thought to myself this was like a dream come true. All this became a reality because of PCLinuxOS!

My wife was a big help too because she researched a lot of the components I bought. My wife researched monitors for weeks before we both got our HP 25" flat panels and when I saw how crisp the display was I knew she did a good job researching. My wife researched the speakers and mouse too. I love the speakers, I wanted good base and she found me exactly what I wanted.

I almost gave up on Linux before I started running PCLinuxOS. Other distros just couldn't cut it as far as flash and graphics drivers and things just weren't getting any better. Installing PCLinuxOS was my last effort to continue running Linux and it completely turned things around for me. Before installing PCLinuxOS, I spent most of my time trying to fix things, now I spend my time enjoying my computer. I never imagined everything coming together this good! All the enjoyment I am having using my computer came from installing PCLinuxOS.

Thanks for making my dream system a reality!

Yeah, I should be able to use most of the components for quite a few years and it's great not to have to re-install the OS all the time. Using the computer is a pleasant experience again and I am able to enjoy collecting music for a change! I never thought things could be this good!

You never realize how good you have it until you work on a Windows machine. My wife brought home her boss's HP laptop for me to fix. (yeah she wants to score some brownie points) The hard drive turned out to be bad and I happened to have a drive I salvaged from another laptop. There were of course no recovery disks because the laptop had a recovery partition. This is day 2 of just installing Windows updates. I still have to come up with drivers for 2 devices and get all the multimedia working, etc.

The sad thing is that I could have had this laptop up and running in about a half an hour or less if her boss was open to the idea of installing PCLinuxOS. I tried the Live CD on the laptop and it detected all the hardware and it sure would be much easier to maintain.

On a better note, my brother was just given a nice quad core system by my dad, he is interested in running PCLinuxOS. My brother wants to check out my system before he makes the switch but I think he is going to see the advantages of PCLinuxOS right away. My brother has re-loaded some Windows machines recently and was not very happy with what he had to go through. Me and my brother have been talking on the phone about it and he has some Linux experience.

We really have the best of the best running PCLinuxOS! It really is like a dream becoming reality!  Grin
